Job description, responsibilities and duties

This role leads newly established agile chapter Operations, responsible for operations and L2/L3 support for our applications and systems. You will take charge of improving agility and maturity in this area and drive adoption of DevOps practices, tools and automation. You will have the opportunity to influence this setup based on your experience.

- You coach and mentor chapter members, support their professional career and skill development
- You develop and drive technology strategy, methods and practices in your area, actively contributing to the organization's strategy and objectives
- You drive an improvement in Security Solutions' capability to deliver changes at high quality and high speed through improved release management & deployment practices and automation
- Your chapter coordinates and facilitates L3 support and 24/7 on-call support for critical incidents


ABOUT THE TEAM

We are an agile organization designing and maintaining software solutions for the Chief Security Officer (CSO) organization of Swiss Re. These serve the needs of information security as well as identity and access management (IAM), for example: processing joiners and leavers, managing access rights, authentication and authorization. Our mission is to provide reliable services and first-class experiences to clients across the Swiss Re group as well as our partners and B2B customer organizations.

Chapter Operations is based in Bratislava (SK) and works closely with colleagues also in Zurich (CH), Riga (LV) and Munich (DE).

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

- You have a higher education degree (M.Sc. preferred) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or other applicable field
- You have 5+ years of software engineering experience including IT operations and managing a team
- You have experience with agile software development methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban), CI/CD processes and DevOps
- You have hands-on experience in programming and/or scripting ideally in context of professional software development
- You work independently and can handle pressure
- You navigate ambiguity and think practically, balancing business and technical needs
- You are committed to work in a decentralized team
Ideally you also bring with you many of the following skills, knowledge and experience:
- Understanding of technology solutions for information security and IAM
- Hands-on experience managing infrastructure in cloud environments and using automation, configuration management and provisioning tools (e.g. Terraform, Puppet)
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
- Proficiency in SQL, web applications, Linux system administration
- Experience with cloud technologies (public, private, hybrid)
- Experience with specific monitoring and operation tools (e.g. ELK stack, Azure App Insights, ..)
- Proficiency in ITIL or similar methods
