Arguments over the fair ‘pre-money’ valuation of a spin-out can create substantial ill-will between parties that often damage future relationships. Ideally, all parties would agree on a single methodology that could be used to calculate a valuation. If only!
However, there are some underlying methodologies that take you most of the way there and thus inject some logical into the process.
In this session, we present some of the most common methodologies, setting out the assumptions that underly their validity and (consequently) the situations in which they are useful.
We then apply these learnings to a real example (with the help of a spreadsheet model), showing how they can (and should be) used together to arrive at a valuation, at the same time exposing the factors that most strongly affect that valuation.

Naďalej je zapojený do komercializácie technológií, školení a mentoringu akademických pracovníkov a manažérov transferu technológií. Bol obchodným riaditeľom na University College London, kde, spolu s vedúcimi akademikmi, založili viac ako 30 technologických spin-outov. Viedol výskumné tímy v Hoechst Celanese Photonics v New Jersey a General Electric vo Wembley.
